Advisory Commissioners
This commission represents a broad spectrum of industry leaders whose goal is to advise NEEC on its process to align the BOC® program with the American National Standard Institute ANSI/ISO/IEC standard 17024.
Travis Bown has over 25 years of experience working in K-12 schools with an emphasis on building energy efficiency measures and building automation systems. He currently serves as Director of Maintenance & Operations for Mead School District in Spokane, WA.
Noel Chambers is the Director of Energy Efficiency and Electrification for Energy New England. In this role, he is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of energy efficiency, electrification, and electric vehicle programs for more than two dozen municipal light plants across the Northeast. Prior to his role at Energy New England, he was a Supervisor of energy efficiency at Eversource Energy where he was responsible for strategic initiatives and workforce development activities which were leveraged to help meet the ever-increasing statewide energy efficiency goals. Noel is currently serving as Chair of the Building Operator Certification Advisory Commission helping to identify and address opportunities to achieve BOC’s goals. Noel is an active member of the Northeast Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and The Northeast Chapter of the Association of Energy Service Professionals (AESP). He has been certified by the Department of Energy as a Qualified Steam System Specialist, and by the Association of Energy Engineers as: Certified Energy Manager; Certified Demand Side Manager; and Certified Measurement and Verification Professional.
Adam Jacobs is an experienced energy professional with a background in environmental analysis, economics, and energy engineering. Adam recently came to Optimal Energy from his position as Energy Manager for the City of Boston, where he led Boston’s successful efforts to maintain the top position as #1 in the ACEEE City Energy Efficiency Scorecard. Prior to that, Adam was an Energy Analyst at Johnson Controls, serving as the primary measurement and verification specialist on a multi-million dollar energy savings performance contract. As an intern while at school, Adam also gained experience with Boston-based organizations EnerNOC and Ceres.
Ryan Knudsen has over thirty years of construction and facilities experience and currently serves as a Corporate Facility Manager for SSA Marine and Tideworks Technology. Ryan holds a Master of Science in Building Construction and Facilities Management and has completed BOC Level I & Level II training. In his role Ryan works to achieve energy and cost savings, develop and maintain OPEX/CAPEX budgets, and manage complex HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical projects.
